As part of our new inquiry on electricity we gave the students the opportunity to explore using different 'smarts'. The idea is to give the children lots of different opportunities to learn, discover and explore electricity.

The effects on pollution

Drain detectives - what happens when things go down the drain?

Before you flush or wash something down the drain you need to think about where it goes.

Be careful about what goes down the drain. It goes straight out to sea.

Main pollutants that are found in our waterways:

Heavy metals, chemicals from washing your car, rubbish.

Where does your family wash their car?

Where is the best place? The lawn.
